
Light Patrol Director

Responsibilities:
As Light Patrol Director, John oversees the Light Patrol team, develops new program initiatives and ensures that operations of the ministry are effective. John also plays the lead role in fundraising efforts and in representing Light Patrol within the greater Toronto area.
Background:
John’s work with marginalized youth began in the mid 80’s. In 1993, John joined Youth Unlimited, serving in a leadership role at Frontlines Youth Centre in Weston. Before joining the Light Patrol team in 2007, John served for 10 years, with our sister organization on the West Coast, reaching street kids in the Surrey. His work has commonly involved young people who are homeless, sexually exploited and drug addicted. He has long been committed to building restorative community with young people on the margins of society. Additionally, John has invested heavily in the equipping of scores of younger leaders. John is married and has three children.
Safelight Outreach worker
Responsibilities:
Gladys is pioneering new outreach initiatives with Light Patrol’s Safe Light program, to reach young women who are ensnared in Toronto’s sex trade.
Background:
Gladys comes to us with a Master of Divinity (Mission major) and a clear sense of calling to serve this broken population. Gladys has a real gift in building rapport and trust with marginalized youth, and is well loved by the girls Light Patrol is reaching. While Gladys has excellent Chinese language skills, her role with Light Patrol positions her primarily with English speaking youth.

Safelight Outreach Worker
Responsibilities:
Joanna works with Light Patrol’s “Safe Light” program, developing outreach and counseling initiatives for sexually exploited girls.
Background:
Joanna comes to Light Patrol by way of a formal partnership with C.A.R.E. (Christian Aid and Relational Evangelism Inc.) Her rich educational background includes a Master of Divinity Degree from Tyndale Seminary. Since 2009, Joanna has worked with C.A.R.E. to pioneer the “Rahab” outreach for young Chinese women, ensnared in Canada’s sex trade industry. Joanna and her team communicate in Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
Joanna is a great addition to Light Patrol’s “Safe Light” program for marginalized young women.
