Ways to Volunteer

Outreach Teams

If you have a heart for marginalized youth and would like to explore the possibilities of becoming involved in Light Patrol’s outreach activities, please sign up for Light Patrol’s next volunteer information session.

Please direct volunteer inquiries to John Cassells at 416-383-1229 ×273.

Behind-the-scenes Volunteerism

There are many important volunteer opportunities for groups, families and individuals. We rely on volunteers to prepare food (baking, making sandwiches, soups and stews, etc.), assist in resource and supply pick ups, and would welcome volunteers with mechanic skills to help repair and maintain our vehicles.
If you are interested in helping behind the scenes, please call John Cassells at 416-383-1229 _273.

Street Health Unit

If you are a Registered Nurse, or Registered Practical Nurse, with updated credentials for the province of Ontario, or a licensed physician – we welcome your participation in the ongoing development of our mobile basic street health program.

For more information, please contact Lori McAuley at 416.383.1229 ×320.

Opportunities & Initiatives

Street Walks

Due to the delicate nature of our outreach, special requests for “guided tours”– opportunities to experience street-life up close – are considered only after careful discussions about boundaries, purpose and arrangements.

Speaking Engagements

Our staff speak regularly in churches, schools (elementary to post-secondary), small groups, and major events, with expertise in such areas as: understanding street youth, responding to domestic poverty, street culture, drug culture, the sex trade, faith and the street, and the prevention of homelessness. Requests are subject to timing and availability.
